Petal Stitch Baby Blanket
When my daughter was pregnant with her first child she requested a rust-colored fox baby blanket to compliment the woodland-themed nursery she was designing. I happily obliged.
But babies love black and white contrast… it grabs and holds their attention! After “Little-O” was born it became readily apparent that she loved anything contrast-y… So, left to my own devices I set out to make a contrast blanket for her!
Daisy Farm Crafts
Per usual, I consulted the internet for inspiration and landed on Daisy Farm Crafts. There I found several crochet inspirations for projects that were not yet on my radar, but they are now!
Tiffany (mother of the Daisy Farm Crafts mother/daughter team) is the creator of this beautiful Petal Stitch pattern.
Here is the link to creator’s YouTube tutorial that I followed to make my blanket:
Here is an updated YouTube tutorial by the creator for the same pattern:
I have included both of Tiffany’s tutorials from Daisy Farm Crafts because I’d be willing to bet you can glean slightly different nuanced nuggets of information from both.
My Videos of Tips and Tricks for the Petal Stitch Blanket
As I was crafting this pattern for myself, the thought came to me that it might be helpful to have a supplement to the Daisy Farms Instructional videos just to help highlight some of the mistakes I made along the way, and to offer some helpful tips on how to avoid my mistakes in your own project.
Any time I find a pattern I want to crochet I watch several instructional videos by differing authors as I begin to learn the pattern. Even though the different videographers are creating the same stitch and pattern, they all have unique ways of describing the process as it unfolds. I may be totally confused by one tutorial, and then with just a small tweak in vocabulary or visual presentation by another a light will go off in my head and I’ll say, “ah-ha! I get it now!”
So, my videos in this post are not meant to serve as the base instructional videos for this Petal Stitch Pattern, and my videos do not contain all of the how-to’s. Definitely hang with Tiffany’s videos and her written pattern when making this blanket! Supplement with my videos for my personal insights.
P.S. Try not to be too confused by the names of the rows in my videos below. There are only three types of rows in this pattern, but they are lableled rows 3-4-5 and rows 6-7-2 depending on which color you are working on in that moment.
