The Power of Visualization

Simply put, visualization is the practice of envisioning (visually imagining) precise places, happenings or circumstances.  We all visualize, every day, without giving it much thought.

In Rhonda Byrne’s book, The Secret, she takes readers on a practice journey into a visualization. Let’s do it now:

Close your eyes and picture your kitchen in your minds.  Picture your specific refrigerator: the exterior color and smooth finish; whether it has one door, or two or three; whether the freezer door is a pull-out drawer at the bottom, or whether the doors are side-by-side.  Whether there are other eternal features, such as a water or ice dispenser. 

There, you’ve done it!  You visualized your refrigerator in your mind!  Not hard at all.  Simple, really.

Rhonda then instructs readers to take that visualization to the next level, by adding motion into it.

For example, see yourself opening the door.  See your own hand reaching out for the door handle; see your fingers grasping the handle; see the inside of the refrigerator and its contents (maybe there’s ketchup and eggs in the door compartment, sandwich meat and cheese in the drawer, and a jug of water on the shelf).  Now see yourself reaching for the jug of water, pouring some of it into a glass, and drinking it.  How does it feel and taste?  Smooth and cold?  Refreshing? 

There!  You’ve done it again!  But this time you’ve visualized with motion and other senses, which is exponentially more powerful!
